We continued our camping car travels in France to Oingt. This village, located in the heart of the Beaujolais region, has been classified officially as a beautiful village of France. It has a rather unusual pronunciation, which as Aussies we just loved.
Oingt is a medieval village made with golden stone that has a population of about 600 people. Because it’s such a tourist destination there are plenty of restaurants and bars and there’s a boulangerie. We stayed the night here in our camping car. The locals are really friendly, especially if you at least try to speak to them in French. Here’s some photos that hopefully give an idea of how beautiful this village is.
Oingt is definitely worth a visit. You probably only need to spend one day here as that gives plenty of time to see the sites such as the old church, look at the art and craft shops, stop at one of the many restaurants for lunch or dinner and soak up the ambiance (and wine) of the Beaujolais region. We found it easy to get here in the camping car although the roads were a bit tight in places.
